Temporary Residency in Cyprus

Our legal experts start with a detailed consultation to assess your specific situation and determine the most suitable type of temporary residency permit for you. We analyze factors such as your nationality, intended length of stay, employment status, and family circumstances. The Cyprus government offers various categories of Immigration Permits based on the specific purposes for which non-EU nationals might wish to reside in Cyprus. Below are the key categories:

Category C – Self-Employment in Trade or Business

For non-EU nationals wishing to engage in trade, business, or profession in Cyprus. Applicants should have sufficient financial resources and a valid permit to engage in their chosen business activity.

Category E – Employment in Cyprus

This category is for non-EU nationals who have been offered permanent employment in Cyprus that will not create undue competition in the local labor market. The employment must be of a secure and durable nature, usually requiring specialized skills.

Registration Certificate for EU Nationals  (Yellow Slip)

EU citizens and their family members who plan to live in Cyprus for more than three months are required to apply for a Registration Certificate, commonly known as a “Yellow Slip.” This is a simple but mandatory process that confirms your legal right to reside in Cyprus.

Digital Nomad Visa

The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) allows non-EU citizens to live in Cyprus while working remotely for companies or clients located outside of Cyprus. This initiative is designed to attract skilled professionals who can contribute to the local economy without entering the Cypriot job market.

Category D – Self-Employment in a Profession or Science

This category is designed for individuals wishing to engage in a profession or scientific field in Cyprus. Applicants need to have the necessary academic qualifications or professional experience, along with adequate financial resources.

Category F – Persons of Independent Means (Pensioners and Retirees)

This is one of the most popular categories for non-EU nationals, particularly retirees or individuals with sufficient financial resources. To qualify, applicants need to demonstrate that they have a stable and adequate income from sources outside Cyprus, such as pensions, dividends, or other passive income streams. They must also prove that they do not intend to work in Cyprus.

Registration Certificate for non-EU Nationals  (Pink Slip)

The Pink Slip allows non-EU nationals to stay in Cyprus beyond the standard 90-day tourist visa, for an extended period (usually up to one year) without engaging in employment. It is particularly suitable for:

  • Retirees who want to spend part of the year in Cyprus.

  • Visitors who wish to stay for extended family visits or personal reasons.
